Sandra Cieszewski (che-shef-ski)
What drives me to paint is the need to create. What inspires me to paint is the outdoors (cherry trees raining blossoms), real life like cafes or drawing circles, and even staged still life (nicely presented meal, a great movie clip!). Each time, I am just trying to capture a painterly moment. I spent two thirds of my life in Cleveland, Ohio. I began painting, mostly in oils, in the 70s along with working in science. Chemistry and an EMBA provided food for the body and a BA in Art History provided food for the soul.
Relocating to Winston-Salem in 1992, I found a community that nurtured the artists of the area. I joined local organizations (Muddy River Art Association and Associated Artist of Winston-Salem) by entering juried shows, hanging art in community exhibits as well as chairing shows and working on the boards. I continued my education and received a BFA. I am now working in pastels, watercolors, gouache, and pencil. My work is currently being exhibited locally at Broyhill and in various community exhibit sites. My website is under reconstruction.
