Van Christopher
I grew up in Virginia and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree (Graphic Arts), a Masters degree (Business Education), and later, a second Masters degree (Business Administration). I a retired United States Navy Captain, and have worked for a number of companies in an executive capacity both domestically and internationally including a Fortune 500 company.
I started with the innate ability to draw REALLY ugly stick figures, but through various patient instructors I have improved.
I have taken a number of art classes, courses, and workshops, some of which include: Acrylic Painting (Patty Bailey Sheets and Sharon Grubbs), Basic Acrylics (Ginnie Conaway), Basic Alcohol Ink Techniques (Ginnie Conaway), Plein-air Landscape Painting (Craig Richards), Plein-air Landscape Painting (Ralph James), Ordinary Magic – Painting the Water’s Surface (Ken Muenzenmayer), Loose and Juicy Landscapes (Robert Burridge), Luminous Landscapes in Acrylics (Ken Muenzenmayer) Still Life Painting (Louis Escabedo), and Still Life and Portraiture (Victoria Majestic).
Memberships: Muddy River Artist Association (Clemmons, NC) and Associated Artists (Winston-Salem, NC).
I have exhibited my paintings in a number of locations, some of which include: Yadkin Cultural Arts Center, Frame-It, Twin City Stage, North Wilkesboro Visitor’s Center, Hampton House, Jonesville Welcome Center, Flow Lexus/Associated Artist Show, Kings Mountain Southern Arts Society Gallery, Salemtowne Retirement Community, Clemmons Library, Creekside Terrace, and Bethesda Eye Center.
